How the Bureau works
- Grounded and retrieval modes record citations and search queries when the provider returns them.
- Search Intelligence (Brave, Exa, Bing, Google-grounded) maps domains even when a chat model is silent.
- The correction kit can include draft pages and ordinary Schema.org JSON-LD for the customer to publish.
What this is not
- We do not ping IndexNow or force Google to recrawl.
- A citation in an API answer is not a Google AI Overview footnote.
- JSON-LD is ordinary Schema.org — not a ChatGPT rank tag.
Questions
How do AI systems find sources?
It depends on the surface: parametric memory, a search tool, or an answer engine’s retrieval stack. AIB labels the mode on each observation so those are not lumped together.
Does allowing GPTBot make ChatGPT cite me?
GPTBot is training-related. ChatGPT search uses OAI-SearchBot. AIB’s distribution check looks at robots.txt eligibility. It does not crawl-spam.
